Sri Lanka vs. Scotland Match 2 Cricket ICC U19 World Cup Predictions, 14th Jan

Sri Lanka and Scotland are scheduled to compete against one another in the second match of the ICC Under 19 World Cup 2022.

Statistics In Real Time: Match 2, Sri Lanka Vs. Scotland

After Scotland’s defeat to Ireland in the championship match of the Qualifier, they were initially disqualified from the competition; however, they were given a second chance when New Zealand withdrew from the competition.

The Scots have never advanced past the first round, and given the quality of the competition in their group in 2022, it will be a challenge for them to do so for the first time.

Charlie Peet, a left-arm spinner who is 18 years old, will lead the team as captain under the direction of Gordon Drummond, who is the team’s coach.

Peet is one of five players on the Scots’ roster who were also a part of the squad two years ago. As a result, the Scots will not be short on experience.

After losing in the first round of each of the previous two iterations of the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup, Sri Lanka will be looking for a better performance this time around.

They made it to the semifinals in 2016 with a team that included Avishka Fernando, Charith Asalanka, and Wanindu Hasaranga, and since then, they have twice finished third in their respective group.

The objective will be to avoid a third consecutive loss in their attempt to advance to the quarterfinals, but the group that they are placed in will not be an easy one to navigate.

Matheesha Pathirana has been recalled to the team after having participated in the tournament in 2020, during which Sri Lanka finished in tenth place overall.

As a result of Dunith Wellalage’s decision to prioritize his education over his participation in a Sri Lanka U19 squad, Wellalage will now lead the team as captain.
